Patna, Nov 9: The number of Muslim members in Bihar Legislative Assembly has increased from 19 to 25 while the Janata Dal United led Grand Alliance registered a landslide victory against NDA in the recent polls.

Out of the 24 newly elected Muslim MLAs 12 are from Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD. Six Muslim candidates from Congress, five from JDU and one from CPI (ML) have entered the Assembly. Several other Muslim candidates have ended up in second position.
On the other hand Asaduddin Owaisi led All India Majlees-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has failed to open its account in the India's third most-populous and poorest state, where Muslims also play a key role in polls. AIMIM had fielded six candidates in Muslim-dominated constituencies in Seemanchal region but lost all the seats.
