P S Harsha is Mangaluru’s new police chief; Arunangshu Giri is DCP (L&O)

Mangaluru, Aug 5: The Karnataka government has posted 2004-batch IPS officer P.S. Harsha as Police Commissioner of Mangaluru city, making changes to the transfer order issued last week.

Mr. Harsha has worked earlier in Dakshina Kannada as Assistant Superintendent of Police, Puttur sub-division. He was also Commissioner in the Department of Information and Publicity in 2017-18. Mr. Harsha was Director (Security and Vigilance), Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, before his posting to Mangaluru.

On August 1, the government transferred his predecessor, Sandeep Patil, as Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Bengaluru, and posted Dr A. Subramanyeshwara Rao in his place. Mr. Rao reportedly cited personal reasons and sought a change in the order.

Thegovernment on Monday posted 2015-batch IPS officer Arunangshu Giri as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) of Mangaluru. The incumbent, Hanumantharaya, was transferred as Superintendent of Police of Davangere.
