New Delhi, Aug 3: In a major embarrassment to the Government of Pakistan, its official website was hacked by anonymous hackers on Thursday.

According to news agency, the hackers posted Indian national anthem and Independence Day greetings on the official website of the Government of Pakistan.

Pakistan government's official website: www.pakistan.gov.pk was crippled for sometime.

However, it was restored thereafter.

According to Twitter users, the website opened with a hacker message which celebrated India’s Independence day and the country's national anthem playing in the background.

One such Twitter user took a screen grab of the Pakistan govt website and shared it on the micro-blogging website.

The hacking of Pakistan government website is yet another example of its poor maintenance and its vulnerability to cyber attacks.

This incident reportedly took place around 2.45 pm, and the website was repaired in some time.

This is not the first time when hackers have hacked Pakistan government websites.

Two months back, 30 Pakistan government websites were hacked to avenge the death sentence given to Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav on spying charges.
