
Bangalore, May 26: Pejawar mutt pontiff Visvesha Tirtha Swamiji had to face embarrassing moments at an anti-corruption programme in Bangalore on Sunday.
It was a consultative meeting of Asli Azadi Abhiyan held at Gandhi Bhavan in Bangalore. Besides former anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare, social activists from different parts of the country including Justice Santosh Hegde, waterman of India Rajendra Singh, H S Doreswamy, Salem Nanjundaiah Subba Rao and Akhil Gogoi from Assam attended the programme.
Pejawar seer, who had supported Hazare in the past and former Union Minister CK Jaffer Sharief were also among the dignitaries. The presence of these two personalities irked Mr Doreswamy.
Mr. Doreswamy expressed himself against the participation of Pejawar Seer and Jaffer Sharief.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Doreswamy said that elections had become a farce and true democracy could be brought in only by a re-awakening of the people.
The former Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde lamented the declining moral values in society. Earlier, Anna Hazare declared that he would launch his campaign in Mumbai on August 9, coinciding with the Quit India movement anniversary.
