Mumbai, Jun 18: The Preity Zinta-Ness Wadia case is getting murkier by the day. Industrialist Nusli Wadia, father of Ness and head of the Wadia Group, has filed a police complaint after allegedly receiving a threat call from the underworld.
A senior police officer, who preferred anonymity, told this reporter that the secretary to industrialist Nusli Wadia received a call around 8 pm on Monday. The caller allegedly told them not to meddle in the Preity Zinta-Ness Wadia case. The call was reportedly followed by an SMS.
The Wadia group then lodged a complaint with the NM Joshi Marg police station which then transferred the case to the Anti-Extortion Cell of the Mumbai police, a specialised unit of the Mumbai Crime Branch that looks into extortion cases.
As per reports, Wadia has claimed that the caller reportedly Ravi Pujari's gang threatened to harm the Wadia Group 's interest if the harassment ' of Preity Zinta was to continue.
The latest development has fueled fresh rumours of relationship between Preity Zinta and Mumbai underworld including Ravi Pujari.
Preity had lodged a complaint against Ness last week alleging that her former boyfriend had humiliated her in public during an Indian Premier League match on May 30 at the Wankhede stadium in South Mumbai. The match was between Chennai Super Kings and Kings X1 Punjab. She has charged him for harassment and humiliation among other things.
The Police had summoned Preity to record her statement and investigations were on.
The CCTV footage of the incident cited by the actor that was recovered by the police, couldn 't be of much assistance as they could not identify Ness and Preity`s seats. They could not be seen at the back of the stadium where the incident allegedly took place.
