Newsroom, Sept 26: The Uttar Pradesh police have lodged an FIR against actress-turned-politician Ramya, for tweeting an alleged offensive photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Rafale deal controversy.
Ramya, the former Member of Parliament from Mandya, is in charge of social media and digital communications wing of the Congress.
She had tweeted a photoshopped photograph of PM Modi painting “chor” on his wax statue with a hashtag “Chor PM Chup Hai”.
The case was registered against her at Gomtinagar police station under Section 67 of The Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008 and Section 124A (sedition) of the IPC.
Lucknow-based activist and lawyer Syed Rizwan Ahmad had registered a complaint at Gomtinagar police station on Tuesday alleging that the post instigates hatred against the Prime Minister.
