Mangaluru, Mar 5: With discrepancies in the results of the undergraduate examinations announced by Mangalore University hitting the headlines, the university announced on Saturday that it would sort them out in 10 days.

A letter by the university on Friday said that the Vice-Chancellor would address the media at 11 a.m. at the University College. But the Vice-Chancellor did not turn up.
The release issued by the Vice-Chancellor said, “I would like to appeal to the students and parents not to panic about the results of the December 2015 examination. I have taken a report from the Registrar (Evaluation) and directed the examination section to solve the errors at the earliest. Also I have constituted a high-powered committee to look into the errors, mistakes and discrepancies if any in the result and sort out the problems in 10 days.”
Mr. Byrappa said, “There was slight delay in announcing the results but the students need not panic. I promise that we will announce error-free results soon. If the students or parents find any discrepancies in their results, I request them to bring it to the notice of the university through the helpline 0824-2287277 or our office at 0824-2287327 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on all working days.”
Earlier, addressing the media, A.M. Khan, Registrar (Evaluation), said that the discrepancies would be set right within a week.
He said that the results announced were provisional and not final.
He said that the university began announcing the results from February 2 in phases. Since then, it received 340 complaints. Of them, 202 had been addressed.
“The results of some students have been held up for technical reasons like non-approval of admission, writing wrong codes, non-submission of internal assessment marks and the financial statements by colleges. However, such results are immediately announced when proper clarifications are given by the colleges and offices,” he said.
Mr. Khan maintained that the helpline would function on Sundays too.
