Suratkal, Nov 11: A proposal has been sent for the construction of a well-equipped market in Surathkal at the cost of Rs 110 crore. Another project to construct a government hospital at Kulai has been proposed, said Mangaluru North MLA Mohiuddin Bava.

The foundation was laid for road development project including tarring of 770-metre road near Brahma Shri Narayan Guru Mandir in Katipalla at a cost of Rs 25 lakh, concretisation of 115-metre road near Krishna Bhajan Mandir and tarring of 308-metre road near the Mandir at a cost of Rs 25 lakh, concretisation of 700-metre road passing by the government school at a cost of Rs 25 lakh, concretisation of 320-metre road passing by DK Zilla Panchayat Lal Bahadur Shastri school at a cost of Rs 25 lakh, and concretisation of 95-metre road near Krishnapura Mutt, construction of 17-metre long retaining wall and concretisation of 338-metre road from Kulai to Moodabettu at a total cost of Rs 25 lakh.
Mayor Jacintha Vijaya Alfred and MCC standing committee president Deepak Poojary spoke on the occasion.
Corporators P Basheer Ahmed, Ayaz Krishnapura and Ganesh Hosabettu, Congress leaders Raghavendra Rao, Satish Kulai, MCC engineers Ganesh, Vishalnath and Abdul Khader, and several locals were present during the foundation laying ceremony.
