Udupi, Mar 17: Majority of Udupi’s Ashta Mutt seers have reportedly favoured action against Shiroor Mutt chief pontiff Lakshmivara Tirtha Swami for his alleged controversial video exposure. Shiroor Mutt is also part of Ashta Mutt (eight mutts).

In a secretly shot video which was aired on a TV channel recently Lakshmivara Tirtha Swami was seen exposing the scandals of Ashta Mutt. The seer claimed that all the seers of Ashta Mutt have kids. He also revealed about a murder. However, later Shiroor seer had called the video fake.
On Thursday night, six of the eight seers of Ashta Mutt held an emergency secret meeting at Madhwangana here under the leadership of Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Pejawar Mutt. The 86-year-old Vishwesha Tirtha is the senior-most among the seers of the Ashta Mutts.
On Friday, Vishwesha Tirtha Swami told media persons that there was no discussion at the meeting on the issue of the Shiroor seer contesting the Assembly elections. The meeting only discussed the controversial remarks of the Shiroor seer and took a decision.
However he did not reveal what action will be taken against the seer. “We will let you know about it at the appropriate time,” the Pejawar seer said.
Those who participated in the meeting were Vidyasagar Tirtha Swami of Krishnapur Mutt; Vishwapriya Tirtha Swami of Admar Mutt; Vidyadheesha Tirtha Swami of Paryaya Palimar Mutt; Vidyavallabha Tirtha Swami of Kaniyur Mutt; Vishwavallabha Tirtha of Sode Mutt; Vishwaprasanna Tirtha, junior seer of Pejawar Mutt; and Ishapriya Tirtha Swami, junior seer of Admar Mutt.
Lakshmivara Tirtha Swami and Sugunendra Tirtha Swami of Puttige Mutt (who is abroad) were not part of the meeting.
