Speeding Fortuner kills 10-year-old school girl

Mangalore, Jul 13: A 10-year-old student of Al-Rahmania School in Someshwara-Uchila near Ullal on the outskirts of the city died after a Fortuner car hit her on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Fadeeda, daughter of Muhammad Bengre and Zainaba.

The accident took place when she was on her way to the school in the afternoon.

It is learnt that a teacher had called her and three other students of her class to the school on Saturday afternoon though there was no class.

A Kerala bound Fortuner car hit the girl while she was crossing road. The grievously injured Fadeeda was rushed to a hospital. But she did not respond to the treatment and breathed her last in the evening.

Fadeeda and her parents relocated to Uchila just a month ago. Her father is from Bengre in Mangalore while mother hails from Uppinangady.

Ullal police registered a case and investigations are on.
