Mangalore, Jul 18: Seeking justice for Rathna Kothari who was found dead under mysterious circumstances, members of All Colleges Students' Union gathered in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue at Lalbagh in Mangalore and orgainsed a candle light vigil for the victim Thursday evening.
Three days after the 17-year-old girl was reported missing, her decomposed body was found in the woods at Thoodalli near Byndoor on July 12.
ABVP protests
Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) also staged a road block protest near Besant College in Mangalore here on Thursday.
The protestors demanded immediate action in apprehending the culprits behind the alleged murder of the girl.
With rape also suspected, the protestors said the incident was reminiscent of the rape-and-murder of Saujanya at Ujire in October 2012.
ABVP members threatened to intensify their agitation if the police failed to conduct a fair investigation and apprehend all those involved.
The protestors further alleged that the government had turned a blind eye to the increasing incidents of atrocities on women reported across the State.
