Mangaluru, May 13: The Dakshina Kannada police have taken up cases against three persons who attempted to impersonate voters in Bantwal and Puttur constituencies in Saturday’s Karnataka assembly polls.
Superintendent of Police B.R. Ravikanthe Gowda said Chasen Change (22) from Sonithpur district in Assam, and Ajay Makes (24), from Haleem sub-division in Assam, were caught at booth no. 59 of Bantwal Assembly constituency.
They were attempting to cast votes in the name of absentee voters by carrying their electoral photo ID cards. Officials on poll duty identified the duo and handed them over to the police, who are yet to register a case.
Shakeer, 17, of Pallattur village was caught when he tried to cast his vote in the name of an absentee voter at booth no. 208 in Puttur Assembly constituency. Polling officials handed him over to the police.
