Two from Udupi die as Bengaluru-bound bus topples after hitting divider

Udupi, Apr 14: Two passengers from Udupi district died on the spot and 15 others suffered injuries when a private bus overturned after hitting a road-divider near Byadarahalli Gate in Channarayapatna taluk early on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Shishira, 13, son of Prashanth from Kundapur in Udupi district, and Mahesh, 45, son of Basava Pujari from Brahmavar in Udupi district.

The bus was carrying 23 passengers from Kundapur to Bengaluru. According to officials, owing to the negligence of the driver, the bus overturned turtle after hitting the road-divider.

Shishira fell off the bus and died on the spot. He was on the way to Bengaluru with his father Prashanth, who also suffered injuries in the incident.

As many as 15 people suffered injuries in the incident. They have been admitted to a hospital at Bellur. The Hirisave Police have registered a case.
