Udupi: Bus rams motorbike in overtake bid; one dead, another critical

Udupi, Jan 27: A youth was killed and another injured when a speeding bus rammed into a motorbike at Othinene village coming under the Byndoor police station limits in Udupi district on Thursday.

Manjunath (23) was riding a motorbike along with Suresh as pillion rider from Hangal in Haveri district to Udupi, while the tourist bus was moving in the opposite direction from Udupi to Murudeshwar.

The accident took place when the bus was trying to overtake another vehicle and collided with the motorbike.

Both Manjunath and Suresh were severely injured. Manjunath died on the way to the hospital, while Suresh had been admitted to the Kasturba Hospital in Manipal.

A case had been registered at the Byndoor police station and investigation is on, the police said.
