Mangaluru, Apr 26: A splendid sandal procession and two days of grand feast marked the end of the 20th quinquennial Urs of Sayyid Madani Dargah at Ullal near here. The final day ritual was performed following the Dargah’s traditions marking the end of 25-day long fete.
Thousands of devotees belonging to different religions were served with Malabar-style ghee rice (Neychoru) and mutton curry on the premises of historic Dargah on Saturday and Sunday. Hundreds of goats were sacrificed to feed the devotees, who thronged the Dargah from across the nation.
The sandal procession and Madani Maulud recitation were held on a grand note on Saturday. Hazrat Swabah Al-Rifai Baghdadi led the Madani Maulud while Ullal Khazi Asayyid Fazal Koyamma Thangal Madani Al-Bukhari led the sandal procession.
Commencing at the Ullal Dargah, the sandal procession was led all over Ullal region. Ullal Dargah committee chairman U S Hamza presided over the Burdah Majlis programme by students of Arabic college, Du’a college and Hiful college, and also welcomed the gathering.
Dargah committee vice-chairman Ashraf, general secretary U T Ilyas, secretary Ashraf Ballari, Farooq Margathale, treasurer Muhammed Haji Bilal, Abdul Hameed Kallapu, members, Haneef Chembugudde, Umarabba Kallapu, Abdul Rauf Madaninagar, vice-president of Charitable Trust Haneef Haji, treasurer Nazeem Mukkacheri, Arabic Trust general secretary Riyad Thangal, treasurer Tanzil Kotepura and others were present on the occasion.
