
Mangalore, Aug 26: A notorious criminal and accused in several murder cases in the district was finally nabbed by Mangalore City Crime Branch (CB) police along with three others at Pachanady near Bondel here on Tuesday.
Rohidas alias Sharan alias Akashbhavan Sharan (29), aide of underworld mobster Vicky Shetty, an accused in close to 15 murder cases in Dakshina Kannada, including the murder case of KVG College administrative officer Ramakrishna, was arrested the CCB police early on Tuesday.
Along with the main accused, Pavitra Kumar alias Pavi (26), from Akashbhavan, Sachin (30) from Bejai and Harsharaj alias Harshit from Kulshekhar were arrested by the police.
At the time of arrest, few others who were with the accused fled from the scene on two motorbikes.
The police also seized a revolver, three live bullets, a knife, sword, several mobile phones and a Tata Nano car from the arrested.
It is said that several murder cases have been registered against Rohidas alias Sharan in different police stations. Accused Sachin and Harsharaj also have murder cases registered against them.
Briefing mediapersons on Tuesday, Mangalore city police commissioner R Hithendra said that action would be taken against accomplices of Rohidas alias Sharan who had helped him remain absconding from the police.
The four accused were arrested by the police based on definite information on their whereabouts near the railway over-bridge at Pachanady near Bondel.
CCB Inspector Valentine D'Souza, PSI Shyamsunder and personnel Shshidhar Shetty, Ganesh M P, Ganesh Kalladka, Venugopal, Chandrashekhar, Dinesh Bekal, Abdul Jabbar and others were part of the team that successfully nabbed the accused, he said.
