Mysuru, Dec 3: A 25-year-old MBA graduate was honoured by Mysuru City Police Commissioner Dr M A Saleem after she thrashed an eve-teaser in public and handed him over to the jurisdictional police station.
Chaitra L, daughter of Lokanath, a retired railway employee and a resident of Hosabandikeri, Chamundipuram in the city, has become the talk of the day for her daring and inspiring act.

Mohammed Sameer (33), a resident of from Rajiv Nagar, here, had passed lewd remarks, seeking sexual favour from the woman while she was walking from the suburban bus stand to the city bus stand on Monday evening.
Tired of hearing his vulgar taunts, she confronted him near the Clock Tower on Ashoka Road and beat him up before calling the police to the spot. Devaraja police station officials took the accused into custody. He has been booked under IPC 354 (A) for sexual provocation.
The woman told media persons that the man trailed her from the suburban bus stand. Though she went into an ATM enroute to avoid him, he waited for her to emerge from the kiosk and continued to follow her.
“I could not bear his taunts so I beat him up. I called the police and handed him over to them,” she said.
Eye witnesses said that Chaitra caught hold of the accused and bashed him with an iron rod. It went on for nearly 15 minutes and the public watched the same as mute spectators. Soon, a generous passerby informed the police deputed nearby, who rushed to Chaitra's help and took Sameer into his custody.
Impressed by the courage of the woman, the Commissioner Dr Saleem on Tuesday honoured her with a Certificate of Appreciation' at his office. Incidentally, the city police had launched its Crime Prevention Month on Monday with a special focus on creating awareness on crime against women.
