According to sources, the state BJP leaders also have suggested the high command to ask the politician in sadhu attire to spend a few days in Karnataka ahead of the polls. The state leaders want Yogi to lead rallies in six major regions – Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Hubballi, Belagavi and Kalaburagi.

Claiming that Adityanath has a huge fan following, especially after he became the chief minister, the state leaders told the central functionaries that his campaign would boost the workers’ morale. They also pressed for early finalisation of candidates so that the rallies can be a huge success.

The state BJP leaders are also understood to have told the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president Amit Shah, to start campaigning at least six months ahead of the elections. The polls are expected to be held in March-April.

B S Yeddyurappa announcing that the central leadership has already started a survey in each constituency for selecting the candidates, there is talk that the saffron party may not give tickets to all its sitting MLAs.

A similar practice was followed by the party for the Delhi Municipal Council polls, bringing rich dividends. The BJP top brass has strictly told the state leaders not to come to Delhi lobbying for tickets, instead all aspirants should stay put in the constituency to win the confidence of the BJP workers.

“Ticket will be given to those candidates having huge popularity among party workers and not based on recommendation from the party leaders”, said a senior BJP leader.

“The party workers in the state are enthused after Yeddyurappa and senior leader K S Eshwarappa started touring drought-hit districts together. To keep up the momentum, more engagement by national leaders in the state would be an added advantage,” the senior leader said.

Mangaluru, Dec 15: Air India Express has announced that it will resume direct flight services between Mangaluru and Muscat from March 2026, restoring an important international air link for passengers from the coastal region.

Airport authorities said the service will operate twice a week—on Sundays and Tuesdays—from March 1. The initial flights are scheduled on March 3, 8 and 10, followed by March 15 and 17, with the same operating pattern to continue thereafter. The flight duration is approximately three hours and 25 minutes.

The Mangaluru–Muscat route was earlier operated under the 2025 summer schedule, with services beginning on July 14. At that time, Air India Express had operated four flights a week before suspending the service.

Officials said the summer schedule will come into effect from March 29, after which changes in flight timings and departure schedules from Mangaluru are expected. Passengers have been advised to check the latest schedules while planning their travel.

The resumption of direct flights to Muscat is expected to significantly benefit expatriates, business travellers and others, further strengthening Mangaluru’s air connectivity with the Gulf region.
