Mangaluru, Oct 17: A local court has acquitted 16 men who had been arrested in the murder case of gangster Bejai Raja aka Shailesh.

A resident of Bejai in Mangaluru, Raja was murdered by a gang of three on December 1, 2012 near West Gate building, Falnir road in the city.
The police had arrested 16 suspects in connection with the case. Two prime accused - underworld don Ravi Poojary and Kali Yogish - are yet to be arrested in the case.
The acquitted are: Pradeep Mendon, Chandu, Achyuta, Subrahmanya, Bharatesh, Deekshith, Jaison D’Souza, Avinash, Nitesh Kumar, Vijay, Sushanth, Mahesh Kodikal, Ganesh, Charan Shet and Vikki. Among them Avinash, Jaison and Vikki had passed away in the course of investigation.
Kadri police had filed a charge-sheet against the accused. A total of 30 witnesses were examined during the trial in the case.
