UP: 16-year-old girl thrown off school building, dies

New Delhi, Sept 19: Days, after seven-year-old Pradyuman Thakur was brutally murdered inside the school in Gurugram, another student of a private school in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh, was found dead inside the premises.

The deceased identified as Neetu Chauhan was found lying on the ground of the Modern City Montessori School in a critical condition. The 16-year-old girl had gone to toilet, located on the third floor, and her classroom was on the first floor, students said. If reports are to be believed, Neetu died after falling off the third storey of the school building on Monday.

Talking to news agency, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajiv Malhotra said,"A profusely bleeding girl was rushed to a nearby medical facility from where she was referred to Baba Raghav Das Medical College in Gorakhpur.

Parents of the girl had lodged a police complaint against unknown persons, alleging that she was thrown off the third floor. After an autopsy, the body has been handed over to the family, Malhotra said.

Apprehending trouble from the parents of other students, the school management has locked down the school and gone untraceable. Police said the mobile phone of school's Principal Adya Tiwari was switched off since the incident.

The SSP said the matter had been referred to the District Magistrate and he, in turn, had deputed the District Inspector of Schools (DIOs) to probe the incident.

Hindu woman wears burqa to pose as Muslim customer, enters husband’s textile shop and stabs him

Bantwal: A domestic dispute appears to have led to a violent confrontation in BC Road area, where the owner of a textile shop was allegedly attacked with a knife by his wife on Wednesday evening.

Krishna Kumar Somayaji, the owner of Somayaji Textiles, sustained serious injuries in the incident and was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment. He is currently receiving care in the intensive care unit and is reported to have survived the assault, according to police.

The Bantwal Town police have registered a case against Somayaji's wife, Jyothi KT, who has since been taken into custody.

Police stated that the complainant, Namita, an employee at the shop, reported the sequence of events. She stated that around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, the suspect entered the shop, wearing a burqa and disguised as a customer, before attacking Somayaji with a knife. The employee then transported the injured owner to a local hospital via an autorickshaw.

Superintendent of Police Arun K confirmed that an ongoing domestic dispute between Somayaji and his wife reportedly preceded the attack. Police noted that Jyothi KT had previously visited the shop and issued threats.

Based on the complaint, Bantwal Town police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Indian Arms Act-1959. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
