Chikkamagaluru, Mar 11: Following a complaint by the e-commerce major Amazon, police have arrested four people on charges of cheating company to the tune of Rs 1.33 crore in Chikkamagaluru.

The arrested are Ekadanta Courier Service delivery boy C L Darshan alias Yeshwanth (25), a resident of Kalidasnagar; Punith (19), a resident of Kalyan Nagar; Sachin Shetty (18) and K Anil (24), both residents of Gauri Kaluve.
Superintendent of Police K Annamalai said that the police also seized products worth Rs 25 lakh from them including four bikes, 21 mobile phones, two tablets, and laptop from the accused.
Amazon has an agreement with Ekadanta Courier Service to supply their products to residents of Chikkamagaluru. According to preliminary investigations, the police have found out that the courier service was not delivering the products to customers.
The tablet provided to Darshan has revealed during preliminary investigations that money has been collected, but the products have not been delivered. The tablet shows 'transaction successful' even before customers make the payment. The tablet has been sent to forensic laboratory for further investigations.
According to information available, Darshan and his friends have ordered a total of 5,817 products including laptops, mobile phones, spectacles, I-phone and piano among other products. According to records, Dhruva ordered 153 products, Mala - 140, Punith - 148 and Sachin Shetty ordered 156 products and they sold the same to others.
When police raided their homes, they found bikes, laptops, and mobile phones. Attempts are on to search which product has been sold to whom. Police have registered cases under Section 408, 420, 34 and 66C under IT Act.
The incident came to light after Amazon senior manager Naveen Kumar filed a complaint with Basavanahalli police station.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that Ekadanta Courier Service delivery boy Darshan has cheated Amazon firm to the tune of Rs 1.33 crore between September 2017 and February 2018. According to the reports, 5,817 products, ordered by 4,604 customers have not been delivered.
