Chitradurga, Feb 28: Karnataka BJP president and former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa has triggered a controversy by claiming that India’s fresh air strikes inside Pakistan in the wake of Pulwama attack will help his party win over 22 of 28 Lok Sabha seats in the state in the upcoming general elections.

Speaking to media persons during his visit to the city, Mr Yeddyurappa gave credit of air strike to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the development has invoked the spirit of nationalism and pro-Modi wave in this south Indian state too.

"The atmosphere....day by day, the wind is increasingly blowing in favour of the BJP. Tuesday's action of destroying terror hideouts by entering inside Pakistan has resulted in a pro-Modi wave in the country, the results of which can be seen in coming Lok Sabha polls," Mr Yeddyurappa said on Wednesday in Chitradurga.

"It has enthused youths; all this will help us in winning more than 22 Lok Sabha seats (in Karnataka)," said the former chief minister.

Yeddyurappa added that Mr Modi will become the Prime Minister again with a full majority after the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The BJP currently has 16 parliamentary seats in Karnataka, the Congress 10 and Janata Dal Secular 2.
