Mangaluru, Oct 19: Commending the arrests of one of the main accused and three others in Prashant Poojary murder case in Moodbidri, Dakshina Kannada BJP district president Pratap Simha Nayak said that in view of the recent police action and assurance of more arrests, the BJP district unit had called off the protest scheduled for Tuesday in Mangaluru.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, he said that the protest scheduled for Tuesday urging the swift arrest of accused in the Bajrang Dal activist murder case, had been temporarily cancelled as per the decision of state party leaders.
Urging the arrest of all the accused in the case without delay, he said that the police should go to the depth of the case and take stringent action on the accused and those who orchestrated the crime.
After the Congress government came to power in the state, they have made a lot of discrimination among people as minority and majority. This crime took place because of the Congress government's failure to maintain law and order in the state. It shows the mindset of the state government, he said, adding that the government's pressure on the police department had resulted in loss of faith in the police among people.
"However, we have faith in the police investigation as far as the arrests are concerned," he told the reporters.
Speaking on the silence of the district in-charge minister and the Moodbidri MLA, he criticised that they did not even condemn the brutal murder of an activist or visit his family after his death.
Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, Ganesh Rao, Nithin Kumar and others were present in the press conference.
