Beltangadi, Feb 6: The Sangh Parivar activists here are celebrating the release of Nidhish Shetty and other miscreants who had been arrested by police for igniting communal clash at Karaya village in Belthangadi taluk last month.
Dozens of Sangh Parivar activists on Thursday night took to the streets in Belthangadi for celebration after Nidhish, a leader of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and other accused were grated.
Nidhish was given a hero’s welcome taken in a procession in Belthangadi, wherein Sangh Parivar activists continued to raise provocative slogans.
Known for spreading communalism among students, Nidhish was arrested by police in connection with last month’s communal violence in Karaya, after he was caught on CCTV camera pelting stone at a Masjid.
Nidhish was one among the dozens of miscreants who attacked the Masjid in Karaya while returning from Hindu Hrudaya Sangama organized by VHP at Puttur on January 16.
During the spot inspection the police have found some of the belongings of ABVP activists including their college identity cards at Karaya. The police also have collected CCTV camera footage.
It may be recalled that ABVP had led a massive protest just two days ago demanding release of Nidhish Shetty, claiming that he was innocent.
On February 3, a large number of ABVP activists and sympathizers of miscreants had stated a protest in Ujire demanding the immediate release of Nidhish Shetty and other miscreants belonging to Hindu community arrested in connection with Karaya communal clash.
