Mangaluru, Oct 21: An elderly man from the coastal town of Bhatkal died on board an Air India Express flight that landed at Mangaluru International Airport in the early hours of Wednesday.
Airport sources identified the deceased as Ibrahim Khaleel Ruknuddin (55), who had boarded the flight at King Fahad International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
It is learnt that the passenger was found unconscious when the flight reached Mangaluru at 3:35 a.m. Immediately, doctors examined him and rushed him to a private hospital. However, he was declared brought dead.
Khaleel was working in Saudi Arabia’s industrial city of Jubail for several years. He is survived by his wife and six children including two daughters.
Even though the exact reason for the death is yet to be ascertained it is suspected to be a case of heart attack. It is also said that he had suffered a heart attack at an airport a few months ago. More details are awaited.
