In what could be a major blow for the infamous D-Company, there are reports doing the rounds that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's closest aide Chhota Shakeel is dead. A report in a national English said that Shakeel had died in January and there were two versions to the story.

While one version says that he had died of a heart attack, the other states the ISI ordered a hit considering he was becoming too hard to handle. Incidentally this news comes in the backdrop of a recent Intelligence Bureau report that suggested that Shakeel had broken away from the Dawood gang.
Top officials in the National Security Council Secretariat in New Delhi and Mumbai Police said they were not in a position to either confirm or deny the reports.
The report also said that Dawood was informed about Shakeel’s death two days after it happened. The Don was apparently devastated after hearing this news and had to be admitted to the hospital in late January, and, again, in March.
According to sources, the ISI wanted to keep Shakeel’s death a secret and continue to use his virtual presence to broker deals. According to them, Shakeel had facilitated this virtual presence himself, by training a Pakistani national called Rahim Merchant aka Doghla (two-faced) to impersonate him and mimic his voice.
