Bengaluru, Feb 21: Former Minister Kumar Bangarappa appears poised to shift loyalties from the Congress to the Bharatiya Janata Party, as he is “frustrated with the ill-treatment” meted out to him in the ruling party. He has, however, said that he is yet to take a final call.

In the event of Mr. Kumar joining the BJP, it will again be a straight fight between his brother — Madhu Bangarappa (JD-S) and him — in Sorab constituency in 2018, once represented by their late father and former Chief Minister S. Bangarappa. H. Halappa, who contested on the KJP ticket in 2013, and is now in the BJP, is expected to migrate to another constituency in the district to make way for Mr. Kumar.

While Mr. Kumar may be the latest to join the bandwagon, it is speculated that at least half a dozen other Congress leaders will follow in the footsteps of former Chief Minister S.M. Krishna and senior leader V. Srinivas Prasad, who moved out of the Congress recently. Leaders like M.H. Ambareesh, Suresh Gowda, and L.R. Shivarame Gowda, leaders from Mandya, are likely to quit the Congress, sources in the party said.

Like his late father, who used to convene a meeting of his supporters in Sorab town prior to taking important political decisions, Mr. Kumar convened one recently. “In the Sorab meeting, people forced me to join the BJP. I will take a final call after holding another round of consultations with my supporters in Sorab,” he said.

Lashing out at Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa, he said JD(S) activists were nominated for the taluk-level bagair hukum regularisation committee in Sorab constituency, which is represented by his younger brother, Madhu Bangarappa (JD-S).

Mr. Kumar said there was deep discontent among Congress activists against the style of functioning of the government and the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee. “The KPCC has remained deaf even to the displeasure expressed by senior leaders C.K. Jaffer Sharief, B. Janardhana Poojary, and H. Vishwanath,” he said.

Meanwhile, Madhu Bangarappa, president of the state youth wing of the JD(S), ruled out the possibility of his brother Kumar Bangarappa joining the party. “He is in a national party; I am a member of a regional one. We cannot be in the same party. That being the case, there is no possibility of him joining the JD(S),” Madhu told reporters in Shivamogga.

Both these are ruining their future. Its unfortunate that few leaders wants to be in higher position always for their own benefit and they start blaming the party whenever they are not given chance. These are selfish parties who are caring of themselves only and not caring for party or public. These people are now joining the most corrupt party BJP.

Mangaluru, May 12: In a shocking development, a group of pilgrims which had travelled from Mangaluru International Airport to Saudi Arabia earlier this month, to perform Umrah has alleged that 26,432 Saudi Riyals, which were kept in a bag, have been stolen.

In a complaint submitted to the Bajpe Police, Soukath Banu, wife of Ahmed Iqbal of Ajyad Tours and Travels, said that her husband, Ahmed Iqbal, along with 35 members, planned and scheduled to perform the Umrah and were travelling from Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) via Mumbai to Jeddah.

Soukath Banu had given Ahmed Iqbal 2,000 Saudi Riyals for performing Umrah and other expenses. The group members were also told to bring Saudi Riyals to meet their expenses.

In her plaint, Soukath stated that the group had left for Jeddah on an IndiGo flight via Mumbai, and their return ticket to India was booked for May 13.

At the airport, she said that 26,432 Saudi Riyals were collected in total, and they decided to keep them in baggage that had a lock. Accordingly, it was kept in the bag of Mohammad Badruddin Kadambar. The airport staff had even questioned what he had kept in the bag.

The group reached Jeddah on May 1. To their surprise, Kadambar found that the baggage lock was broken open, the zip was damaged, and cash was stolen upon reaching Jeddah.

DCP (Law and Order) Sidharth Goyal said that following the complaint, one round of CCTV checks was conducted at the MIA along with the CISF personnel. The loading at the MIA was intact.

Further checks have to be carried out at Mumbai and Jeddah Airport as the victim found out that cash was missing only when they got the bag at the final destination, he added.

revanna..jpg

Bengaluru, May 14: JD(S) leader HD Revanna has been released from Parappana Agrahara Jail today, on May 14 after he was granted conditional bail.

He was granted a conditional bail yesterday by a Bengaluru court in connection with a kidnapping case linked to sexual abuse allegation against him and his son Prajwal.

Revanna was arrested on May 4 by Special Investigative Team (SIT) officials in a kidnapping case registered against him at KR Nagar police station in the city. The case is linked to his son and Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna’s mega sex scam.

Representing the JD(S) MLA from Holenarsipura, he termed this case a "political conspiracy" against him.

A SIT, constituted by the Karnataka government, is probing the alleged sexual abuse against against HD Revanna and his son Prajwal Revanna.

Prajwal Revanna, the incumbent MP, is seeking another term from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency. The voting for the seat took place on April 26.

Earlier, JD (S) chief HD Kumaraswamy alleged that Karnataka government does not want a fair inquiry.

"They are misusing the office. Nothing is going to happen ultimately. They wanted character assassination of HD Revanna and for that reason, they are using their office," Kumaraswamy told ANI.

Meeting Karnataka Governor Tawara Chanda Gehlot on May 9, a delegation of the Janata Dal (Secular) submitted a memorandum and urged Gehlot to recommend a CBI probe.

Prajwal sill absconding

The JD(S) MP, Prajwal, fled to Germany after Karnataka State Commission for Women Nagalakshmi Chowdhary wrote to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah seeking an investigation into over obscene videos of Prajwal Revanna allegedly sexually abusing several women. He has also skipped summons issued by the SIT to appear before it.

The ‘obscene videos’ involving Prajwal Revanna started making the rounds ahead of the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka on April 26, triggering a political slugfest.

A lookout notice against Prajwal Revanna has been issued at all airports in India, along with a Blue Corner notice. A Blue Corner notice issued by Interpol helps countries collect and share information regarding a person's location and their activities as part of a criminal investigation.

In an intriguing turn of events, authorities have levied a fine against an actress for breaching traffic regulations depicted within a television serial.

In the 14th episode of the popular serial ‘Seetha Raama’ a Kannada language drama series airing on Zee Kannada, a scene featuring two individuals riding a scooter caught the attention of viewers. While the rider adhered to safety protocols by wearing a helmet, the actress on the pillion did not.

Jayaprakash Yekkur, a vigilant resident of Mangaluru, took swift notice of this discrepancy and promptly lodged a complaint with the Mangaluru City Police Commissioner. Yekkur underscored the concern that such portrayals of traffic violations by actors and actresses could potentially convey misleading messages to viewers, particularly those who are impressionable. He urged authorities to take decisive legal action against the actress, the serial’s director, and the broadcasting channel.

In response to Yekkur’s complaint, the Commissioner of Police forwarded the matter to the Mangaluru Traffic Police station. Subsequently, notices were issued to the owner of the two-wheeler featured in the scene and the serial’s director. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the scene had been filmed in Nandini Layout, Bengaluru, and was referred to the Rajajinagar police station for further scrutiny.

On May 10, after thorough inquiries, the Rajajinagar police station imposed a fine of Rs 500 on both the actress and the owner of the two-wheeler. Furthermore, the production manager of the serial committed to adhering strictly to traffic regulations in future episodes.

Expressing his contentment with the resolution, Jayaprakash Yekkur commented that the prompt response from the police, coupled with the imposition of a fine, serves as a valuable lesson and contributes significantly to enhancing public awareness.
