Udupi/Mangaluru, Feb 27: Paryaya Sri Pejawar Mutt seer Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swami has urged the government to set up goshalas everywhere to rear cattle.

He was speaking after inaugurating the day-long hunger strike under the campaign to save cattle organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in association with Hindu Jagaran Vedike, Bajrang Dal, Gou Pariwar and Gou Shalegala Karnataka Rajya Okkuta in Udupi.

He said that in most of the cases, the people are unable to take care of their own aged parents. Goshalas can be promoted in temples and mutts. Wastes from vegetable shops, temples and grass grown on barren land can be used to feed cattle, he suggested.

The seer questioned the people who uphold the ideologies of Ambedkar and repeatedly mention his name seeking social justice but are blind towards the Constitutional statutes proposed by Ambedkar to protect cattle.

“There is no communal disharmony hidden in the issue of conserving the cattle. Everyone should join hands keeping in mind the fact that preserving cattle stock is not the issue of religious disharmony, instead it is the essence of humanity. Everyone, irrespective of religion and caste, consume milk. Hence it is the foremost duty of each one to protect cattle,” he said.

Pejawar Mutt junior pontiff Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swami said that goshalas should be set up everywhere to rear cattle as, in most of the cases, the people are unable to take care of their own aged parents. Goshalas can be promoted in temples and mutts. Wastes from vegetable shops, temples and grass grown on barren land can be used to feed cattle, he suggested.

Sri Anegundi Samsthana seer Sri Kalahasthendrasaraswati Swami said the rich, instead of adopting dogs as their pets, should go for cattle. The public signed a memorandum on the occasion appealing for the support of the state and the Central governments to conserve cattle.

In Mangaluru

Urging the Central government to enact a stringent law banning cow slaughter either by utilising the provision of the Constitution or by amending the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960, the members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal staged the Gau Satyagraha in Mangaluru on Sunday.

In a memorandum to the Prime Minister, the protesters said that, from time immemorial, the country has believed in the tradition of worshipping the cow and its progeny. A provision for seven years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 1 lakh as punishment for slaughter of cow and its progeny should be made by the government, the protesters demanded.

They said that the government should declare the cow and its progeny as national honour and pride. Reminding the NDA government on its election manifesto, the protesters said that the BJP had promised to initiate measures to provide necessary legal framework to protect the cow and its progeny. Now, the time has come for the party to fulfil the promise.

The memorandum said that the Transport of Cattle Rules 1978 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals 1960 do not provide for any stringent punishment for cattle lifters and those who transport illegally. As a result, cattle are transported in an inhuman manner.

The protesters also urged the Centre to direct all the states to utilise the cow grazing land by growing grass to ensure the availability of sufficient fodder in each village at lower price.

We know this Seer participated and cheered Babri Masjid Demolition, he practices untouchability, Pankhtibheda, endorsed Made snana, acts as spokesperson of VHB, BJP and Sanghparivar. If he really wants to protect cows, let him first visit Goshalas of Madhya Pradesh and urge central Govt. to BAN Beef exports and close down all industries in India that uses dead cows to prepare various products. Let him also ask Govt, how much donation BJP got from nationalist beef exporters.

Krishna,
If he is valued person than :
He should ban the No1 beef exporting company who is run by BJP candidate. (Y is he silent)
In hindu scriptures Beef eating is allowed - Y doesnt he speak on it?
We saw BJP ruled states once come in media that Goshalas were in shitty condition where cows are dying without water and food..

If the so called cow protector cant protect only 1 or 2 go-shalas .. How come he is speaking about the entire country.

Instead of speaking for the poor people who are dying without food and proper shelter ... He is speaking on goshala to create unrest between the communities...

Wake up and recognise logically the political parties and their chellas who is wearing sheep's wool

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has written to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, urging him to extend all possible help to the victims of JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna's alleged sexual abuse.

In a letter to Siddaramaiah, Gandhi condemned the actions of Revanna, an MP from Hassan in Karnataka, and accused him of enjoying immunity with the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

In a veiled attack on Modi, the Congress leader said he has never come across a senior public representative who has constantly chosen silence in the face of untold violence against women.

"I request you to kindly extend all possible support to the victims," Gandhi said in his letter to the Karnataka chief minister.

"They deserve our compassion and solidarity as they fight their battle for justice. We have a collective duty to ensure that all parties responsible for these heinous crimes are brought to book," he added.

Describing the incidents as "horrific sexual violence" unleashed by the incumbent Member of Parliament, Gandhi alleged that Revanna sexually assaulted and filmed hundreds of women over several years.

"Many who looked up to him as a brother and son were brutalised in the most violent manner and robbed of their dignity. The rape of our mothers and sisters warrants the strictest possible punishment."

"I am deeply shocked to learn that as far back as December 2023, our Home Minister Shri Amit Shah was informed by Shri G Devaraje Gowda about Prajwal Revanna's antecedents, especially his history of sexual violence and the presence of videos filmed by the perpetrator," the former Congress chief said.

He said what is even more shocking is that despite these gruesome allegations being brought to the notice of the seniormost leadership of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre, Modi campaigned and canvassed for a "mass rapist".

"Furthermore, the Union government wilfully allowed him to flee India to derail any meaningful investigation. The deeply perverse nature of these crimes and the absolute immunity enjoyed by Prajwal Revanna with the blessings of the Prime Minister and Home Minister deserves the strongest condemnation," Gandhi said.

"In my two decades in public life, I have never come across a senior public representative who has constantly chosen silence in the face of untold violence against women. From our wrestlers in Haryana to our sisters in Manipur, Indian women are bearing the brunt of the Prime Minister's tacit support for such criminals," he alleged.

In this backdrop, Gandhi said the Congress has a moral duty to fight for justice for "our mothers and sisters".

"I understand that the Karnataka government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the grave allegations, and a request has been made to the Prime Minister to cancel Prajwal Revanna's diplomatic passport and get him extradited to India at the earliest," he said.

H D Revanna, the Janata Dal (Secular) MLA from Holenarasipura in Karnataka's Hassan district, is the son of former prime minister and JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda and elder brother of former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy. He is facing allegations of sexually abusing women.

Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Sunday said that the Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing into sexual abuse charges against Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, will not be going abroad to bring him back, and the Interpol will share information about him.

He also cautioned political leaders about making public statements or sharing information in connection with the case, which is sensitive.

The 33-year-old Prajwal Revanna, who is grandson of JD(S) patriarch and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, is facing charges of sexually abusing several women.

The scandal has raised a political storm with the ruling Congress and BJP-JD(S) engaged in a slugfest.

Prajwal Revanna is said to have flown abroad on April 27, a day after the first phase of Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka was held.

He was BJP-JD(S) alliance's joint candidate from Hassan Lok Sabha segment, which went to polls in the first phase.

"No, there is no such option. Blue Corner Notice has been issued and the Interpol will share the information. The respective country in which he is found or identified - they will inform them (Interpol) and then our agencies, the CBI will get to know, and through them we will get to know."

"So far there is no information," Parameshwara said.

He was responding to a question on reports about the SIT team travelling abroad in connection with the case.

Speaking to reporters, he said, "Investigation is going on, not to affect the investigation we don't want to share any information."

Responding to a question on Union Minister Pralhad Joshi's statement alleging conspiracy behind the arrest of BJP leader Devaraje Gowda, for making allegations against Congress leaders in connection with the case, Parameshwara said, "If anyone says anything I cannot react to it. We cannot respond to every public statement. As this is a serious case, we cannot share information until the investigation is completed."

"My request to the public and to our leaders is to be cautious while making statements. If not, based on the statements given by them, we may have to call them for investigation and record their statement under 41 A of CrPC," he added.

Asked whether JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy will also be served notice, the Minister said he is a former CM and that he believes that the former has taken this case seriously.

"Before giving any statements on this case or before sharing any information in the public domain, one has to be cautious, and this applies to all," he added.
