Dharwad, Nov 26: Even as BJP has planned a state-wide protest demanding his resignation following allegations of trying to rescue a murder accused, the Minister for Mines and Geology Vinay R Kulkarni has portrayed the entire episode as a conspiracy hatched by the saffron party for political gains.
Speaking to media persons here the minister also revealed there he had met Gurunath Gouda, the elder brother of murdered BJP leader Yogishgouda Gouda. However, he said that his meeting with the victim’s brother was not part of a compromise deal as alleged by the BJP.
Gurunath Gouda earlier told media persons that Dy SP Tulajappa Sulfi had met him at an isolated spot on the outskirts of Dharwad and asked him on behalf of the minister to go for a compromise.
Mr. Kulkarni said his name was unnecessarily being dragged into the controversy to tarnish his image. He said Dy SP Tulajappa Sulfi, who is accused of trying strike a compromise deal with Gurunath Gouda, may be an agent of the BJP.
“I do not know any Sulfi. He might be an agent of the BJP. He dragged my name into the murder case. This is a conspiracy by the saffron party, and I will fight it,” he said.
Refuting charges that he had threatened an advocate, Mr. Kulkarni said he had found out that advocate Anand was writing anonymous letters about him at the insistence of BJP leader Amrut Desai, and circulating it on social media. “I took him to task over phone and this has been recorded and circulated, linking it to the murder case,” he said.
