Bhatkal, December 28: A house was burgled in Heble Panchayat area in Bhatkal taluk on Monday night.

Articles estimated at Rs. 7 lakh were stolen, according to a complaint with the police by Ismail Raza, owner of the house.

According to Mr. Raza's complaint, his family had gone to a wedding when the thieves broke into the house. They broke open two cupboards and stole gold ornaments including a necklace set, bangles, rings, a bracelet, a chain, and a few coins.

Senior police officers visited the spot.

A dog squad and finger print experts from Karwar were pressed into service. A case has been registered at the Bhatkal rural police station.
