Hassan, Jul 29: The Chikmagalur Lokayukta police have registered a case against three persons, including the former Minister and Chikmagalur MLA C.T. Ravi, based on a complaint that he had used his influence for denotifying a land for the benefit of his close associate.
K.M. Sannamallappa, farmer, had filed a petition in the court against Chikmagalur municipal commissioner Nagabhushan, who was earlier commissioner of Chikmagalur Development Authority, Mr. Ravi, and his close associate H.B. Sudarshan, on July 23.
He had stated that the Chikmagalur Development Authority (CDA) had issued a notification for acquisition of six acres and three guntas of land at Hiremagalur in 1990.
The land owners had moved the court against acquisition.
The court had ordered for a fresh notification of acquisition in 1999. The CDA remained silent on the issue for many years, even as the original owners continued to stay in the land.
Mr. Sannamallappa, who is one among the four original owners, said that Mr. Ravi and Mr. Sudarshan purchased the land by threatening that if they did not sell it, the government might acquire it anytime.
“The land was registered in Mr. Sudarshan's name. After purchasing the land, a requisition was submitted to CDA in 2007 for denotifying it in the name of original owners. The signatures of the original owners were forged in the application. Mr. Ravi, using his influence as an MLA, ensured that the CDA recommend the Urban Development Department for denotifying the land and got it done,” Mr. Sannamallappa said.
