Bengaluru, Oct 15: Bengaluru's civic authorities have served final notices on actor Darshan and former minister Shamanuru Shivashankarappa to clear out structures that encroaching upon stormwater drains [SWDs] in the locality.
While a part of the actor's house has been built over a drain, Shivashankrappa has a built an entire house and a hospital over an SWD in Rajarajeshwari Nagar within BBMP limits.
According to sources in the Bengaluru Urban DC V Shankar's office, final notices have been issued to clear out the encroachments within seven days (byOctober 22), failing which the extruding portions will be demolished.
A senior officer, asking not to be identified, said the locality has been surveyed and the DC has confirmed that there was indeed partial encroachment of drains by actor Darshan and the former minister.
Bengaluru DC officials had earlier issued notices to 67 owners who have encroached upon SWDs in Rajarajeshwari Nagar. "We have received their replies and are verifying them,'' the officer said.
Following flash floods after the rains on July 28, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike went on a demolition spree razing buildings which had encroached upon stormwater drains in parts of the city.
Many houses were razed at Dodda Bommasandra, Arskere and Kasavanahalli. The drive came to a halt due to the violent agitation over the Cauvery water sharing dispute and the festival season.
