Puttur, Jun 3: It 's a remote village indeed that lies about 9 kilometers from Puttur town. The locals ought to travel by a few private buses that ply between the town and their village. The mobile connectivity goes off whilst reaching the village. Nevertheless, the people get happiness by toiling whole day in their farmlands and plantations.

Bulerikatte is the village that lies on Puttur – Panaje Road. It 's difficult to imagine a boy who has studied in state-run school in the village, toiled in paddy fields and plantations during his childhood has made his name in fashion industry. It 's true. The boy has said good bye to studies soon after his SSLC to begin a new life in Bangalore. He emerged as a trainer in fashion industry. He is none other than Sameer Khan who has become a fashion choreographer and groomer indeed.

Sameer is also the official trainer and fashion groomer of Karnataka 's premier fashion event, Miss Mangalore and Mr Mangalore organized by World Tuluvas Network.

Sameer has successfully trained emerging names in Fashion industries like Miss Queen of India 2014 1st runner-up Aditi Shetty who is one among the top 10 finalist in Femina Miss Diva 2014 (Miss India Universe), Miss South India 2014 Abhishikta Shetty, Miss Beautiful Face – Miss Queen of India 2014 Tanishka Kapoor, Miss South India 2014 2nd runner-up Meghna Shetty, Dixitha Acharya – Lead Actress of upcoming Tulu Movie Rang, Sonal Monterio – lead actress of Tulu Movie Yekka Sakka and many others.

Sameer Khan has carved a niche in Indian fashion industry as fashion choreographer and groomer. Sameer who was a top student studying in a rural school had a dream to achieve significance in fashion industry. He had low self esteem because of his rural background; he migrated to Bangalore where he began working as manager in a restaurant.

Sameer has worked as a model, walking ramps and modeling for different products for 2 to 3 years and became an accomplished model.

Sameer founded Elite Model Flat ' in Bangalore to train models in fashion industry during 2004. Since then he has worked as fashion choreographer and groomer for over 400 fashion shows. He trained over 1,000 models to excel in fashion industry. Sameer has made his name in India 's premier fashion shows such as Miss Queen of India, Miss South India etc.

Sameer 's brainchild Elite Model Flat ' will be opening branches in Cochin and Dubai shortly. Through these branches, Sameer will train the new models in all facets of modeling, beginning from ramp walk, focusing, behavior, vocal skills, camera expressions, mike handling, how to behave in parities etc in one month.

The models who go through this training are confident to shine in fashion industry. Sameer 's role here is limited to behind the curtain, he does not get limelight, but his trained model get intense focus on the ramp by the viewers.

Fashion is like my soul. I get disheartened by even a small mistake. I expect perfect training to be exhibited on the ramp by the models, ' says Sameer Khan.

Mangaluru: In a significant step to curb online hate and intimidation, Mangaluru City Police have registered a suo motu case against multiple Instagram accounts accused of circulating alleged provocative and threatening content.

While monitoring social media activity on Tuesday, Kankanady Town PSI Anitha Nikkam identified the Instagram handle ‘team_targetttt_900’ for posting a hate message alongside images of lethal weapons. Another account, ‘team_nagara_900’, allegedly shared a threatening post targeting activist Bharath Kumdelu, tagging additional pages such as KARAVALI-OFFICIAL.

Several other accounts — including ‘immu_bhai.fan’, ‘target_boy_900’, ‘kings_of_manglore’, ‘team_target_boys.900’, ‘arshad_mangalore’, ‘target_ka19_ullal’, ‘team_target__’, ‘troll_tigersz_900’, ‘tr_group_900’, and ‘team_target_900’ — are also under scrutiny for spreading similar inflammatory material, police said.

Authorities have urged citizens, especially young social media users, to report suspicious pages and avoid engaging with groups that glorify violence or threaten individuals. Online hate can quickly escalate into real-world harm, and police stress that sharing or promoting such content can attract legal consequences.

Mangaluru, Dec 15: Educational institutions in Mangaluru that rely on the popular Mangala Stadium for their annual sports events are bracing for an inconvenience as the city's key sporting venue is set to close its gates for a significant upgrade. The stadium is expected to be unavailable for approximately two months starting from January 15, 2026.

The closure is necessitated by a proposed overhaul of the stadium's facilities, with a special focus on upgrading the synthetic track. Pradeep Dsouza, Assistant Director of the District of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES), Dakshina Kannada, confirmed the development.

"Experts have visited the stadium, conducted a thorough inspection, and have given the go-ahead for a complete makeover," Dsouza stated. "Funds have been allocated for the project, and we are currently awaiting the final green signal from state officials to commence the work. We anticipate that the work will likely begin in the second week of January. Consequently, we have stopped renting out the stadium to colleges and other organizations in preparation for the upgrade."

The timing presents a logistical challenge for colleges, as many schools have already concluded their sports meets.

"Colleges will now be organizing their events and will need to find alternative locations to host their sports meets," Dsouza added. He suggested a few potential venues, including the Dakshina Kannada police ground, University College grounds, Panambur grounds, Swaraj Maidan in Moodbidri, and the Mangalore University sports grounds in Konaje.

However, many institutions note that finding a comparable venue will be difficult. While the DK police ground and University College grounds are closer to the city center, they do not possess the extensive facilities and infrastructure offered by Mangala Stadium.

Dr. P Dayananda Pai - P Satisha Govt First Grade College, Carstreet, is one such institution dependent on the stadium. Principal Jayakar Bhandary expressed hope for a swift completion of the work. "We expect the work to be completed at the earliest. If not, we will be forced to look for other venues to host the sports day for our students," Bhandary said, highlighting the pressing need for the city's main sporting facility.
