Mangaluru, Nov 1: The brutal murder of 25-year-old youth on Friday shows how youth in Adyar-Kannur locality of Mangaluru are entering into the world of rowdyism through drug-peddling.
The police questioned several youth and taken at least a couple of suspects into the custody after Ijaz alias Ijja, a murder accused, was butchered to death by a gang of six members at a saloon.
Ijaz and his elder brother Imran were main accused in the murder case of Sanna Puttha. The hearing relating to this case is still in progress in third JMFC court in Mangaluru.
According to police sources, all these youth were allegedly engaged in ganja peddling and were notorious for their rowdyism in the area in recent years.
Ijaz had escaped arrest and had got bail. Gradually, Ijaz had reportedly decided to distance himself from the ganja peddlers' gang and started sand business. However, the associates of Sanna Puttha were waiting for an opportunity to take revenge for his murder.
Police sources said that this was not the first attempt on Ijaz's life. Twice he had escaped attacks and third attack proved deadly. It is said that the police had already warned him to beware of the plot hatched by his rivals.
The intensity of the revenge was such that the assailants continued to chop up the body of Ijaz even after collapsed in a pool of blood and breathed his last. At least 32 wound marks were found on his body.
A tense situation continued to prevail in Adyar-Kannur area even a day after the cinema like murder of youth who was in a saloon getting a shave.
