Ghaziabad, May 20: A huge cache of explosives allegedly meant to be used for terror activities was discovered in the Modi wave hit Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad district.

Police have taken two persons into custody in connection with the incident. The accused have been identified as Ram Prakash and Kale. Both the accused are scrap-dealers by profession and closely linked to Hindutva outfits. Both had reportedly took part in campaign for BJP in recently concluded Lok Sabha polls.
However, police, who made the discovery Saturday night, are still investigating how the explosives travelled to Ghaziabad and whether these were meant to be used for sinister purposes.
Ghaziabad SSP Sachi Ghildiyal said it had not yet been ascertained whether the explosives had detonators. “The scrap-dealer, Ram Prakash, is being questioned about the source of the explosives. Another scrap-dealer, Kale, from Nangloi has been detained,” he said.
Ghaziabad SP Jagdish Sharma said, "Prakash usually extracts copper metal from the junk that he gets. On Saturday his sons also accompanied him. As soon as they stuck the hammer in the scrap, there was a loud explosion that injured the children. The locals then made a PCR call and they were taken to the hospital."
Ram Prakash's sons Rinku (13) and Shivam (10) were critically injured and are in hospital. "We have already flagged the state and central security agencies. These agencies are also working on the case," Ghildiyal said.
Local residents are of the suspicion that the explosives might be stocked by the Hindutva extremists to carry out a terror attack and disturb peace in the society.
