Mangaluru, May 5: It is better not to have higher education if people are going to send their parents to old-age homes, said U T Khader, health and family welfare minister.

Speaking after inaugurating ‘Career Yatra 2015’ organized by Bengaluru based ‘Sigma India’ in association with Mangaluru-based Talent Research Foundation in the city, the minister said those who pursue higher education should also imbibe values like taking care of parents and respecting elders.
He said that it is better to teach the technique of catching fish instead of providing fish to one who is in starvation. Similarly it is better to provide proper guidance to the students instead of providing them money unnecessary.
On the same occasion Mr Khader released a career guidance book in Kannada titled ‘SSLC/PUC Mundenu?’ (SSLC/PUC What Next?)
Abdul Ravoof Puthige, Founder, Talent Research Foundation presided over the programme. Prof P C M Kunhi, Director, Yenepoya University, B Mohammed Haneef, President, Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy were present among others.
