Mangaluru, Jun 21: Within hours after Bantwal taluk witnessed the murder of an SDPI activist on Wednesday, Karnataka government transferred Dakshina Kannada superintendent of police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase.
Mr Boarase has completed exact one year in the coastal district. He was transferred from CID, Bengaluru to Dakshina Kannada on May 20, 2016. This time he was transferred to Bengaluru as DCP (Administration).
Sudheer Kumar Reddy, the SP of Mandya district, will soon take charge as the new SP of Dakshina Kannada.
A 2010 batch IPS officer Reddy also holds a BTech degree from Pondicherry Engineering College. He has served as additional superintendent of police in Bhatkal in Dakshina Kannada district, and as SP of Bidar district in the past. He is a native of Narsaraopet in Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh.
The transfer order is likely to trigger a controversy as recently a secretly shot video of Ramanath Rai advising Mr Borase to take stringent action against trouble mongers had sparked a row in Karnataka assembly.
It could be recalled here that RSS veteran Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat at a press meet in the city on May 28 had slammed Mr Borase and called him an incompetent police officer. However, after Mr Rai’s video went viral, Mr Bhat changed his tune and said that Mr Borase was a good person. Mr Bhat also accused Mr Rai also insulting Mr Borase.
