Bengaluru, Jan 29: Three men who attacked a woman in public last week after she rejected the advances from one of them were arrested on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old woman, who suffered a 2cm deep gash in her back and is undergoing treatment at present, works in a private airlines office in Banasawadi.
On June 21, when she was parking her bike near her house on Police Road in Cottonpet after returning from work around 9.30 pm, she noticed a man lurking nearby. When she asked him who he was, he suddenly attacked her with a knife.
He stabbed three times in her lower back, causing deep cuts. While she screamed in pain, he fled. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and was discharged later.
Police said Pramod (32), Kumar (27) and Suresh (35) have been arrested in connection with the attack.Another person is absconding and a special team has been formed to nab him.
According to police, Pramod said he was in a relationship with the woman for eight years. About a year ago, the relationship strained and they parted ways. He wanted to take revenge and paid Kumar to harass her. Investigation revealed that Kumar used to call the woman and abuse her. He also used to send obscene messages to her.
The woman has, however, denied she was in a relationship with Pramod.
Two days before she was attacked, Pramod had paid Rs 1,10,000 to Kumar and asked him to physically threaten and intimidate her. Kumar had in turn paid Rs 50,000 to another person who is absconding and asked him to do the job. Both Kumar and Suresh allegedly assisted the assailant in committing the crime.
