Bengaluru, Jul 20: Sri Rama Sene president Pramod Muthalik, on Wednesday, appeared before the investigating officer of High Grounds police station after a suomotu case was registered against him last week for his derogatory and inflammatory speech against the minority community and promoting enmity at a protest in Bengaluru.
Muthalik had obtained bail from a court and presented himself at the police station. The police inspector completed the arrest formalities and released him. “We are yet to record his statements on the incident,” said a senior police officer.
Muthalik and his supporters had staged a protest before the Gandhi statue near Ananda Rao Circle against Pejawar Mutt seer Vishwesha Theertha Swami of Udupi for hosting an iftar party inside the Mutt during Ramzan. Muthalik said that he and his supporters would spill blood if an iftar party or namaz was organised in any temple.
The police had registered a case under IPC Section 153 and had booked him.
