Riyadh, Apr 28: A.P. Aboobacker Musliar, general secretary, All India Sunni Jamiyyathul Ulama, held discussions with Saudi Deputy Labor Minister and the Director of Labor Affairs Ahmed Humaidan in Riyadh early this week.
Musliar said that during the discussions, he had raised the issues concerning thousands of Keralites in the wake of the Nitaqat rules in Saudi Arabia.
He said Dr. Humaidan had assured him that the new labour rules would not adversely affect the vast majority of Indians, and they continued to play a vital role in the development of the kingdom.
Musliar asked Dr. Humaidan for special consideration for thousands of Indians working away from their sponsors in Saudi Arabia.
He asked him to help “Huroob” violators to leave the country before the present grace period expires so that they can look for jobs again in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries. The deputy minister said he would ask the Minister of Labor to help solve these problems amicably.
He demanded that the rules and regulations for change of sponsorship and profession be simplified.
Musliar also met Prince Khaled Al-Faisal.
Dr. Abdul Hakim Azhari, Dr. Hussain Saqafi Chullikkode and Gammon Group Chairman Sheikh Mohammed Rafeeq accompanied him to the meetings.
