Lucknow, Aug 7: The medical examination of the 20-year-old former madrasa teacher, who has alleged that she was abducted, gangraped and forcibly converted to Islam, has found that she had been operated for ectopic pregnancy — a complication arising out of the foetus growing outside the uterus — last month, according to the police.

The woman, who was a part-time teacher at a madrasa in Sarawa village of Meerut's Kharkhoda police station area, had alleged that she was operated in a Muzaffarnagar hospital on July 23. She had marks of stitches on her stomach.

DGP A L Banerjee said the medical examination found that a surgery was performed on the girl for ectopic pregnancy. “The girl's statement under CrPC 164 has been recorded before a magistrate and police will probe the case on the basis of that statement,” said Banerjee.

In Lucknow, secretary (home) Kamal Saksena and IG (Law and Order) Amrendra Sengar, said the medical examination has not stated anything about sexual assault.

DIG, Meerut Range, K Satyanarayan also confirmed the medical examination's finding but said that no organs of her body have been found missing.

The DIG also said that police have found an affidavit about the woman's religious conversion, which was performed by a maulvi from Hapur. The woman has alleged that she was forced to sign the affidavit, dated July 30. “We have taken the maulvi, who performed the conversion, into custody. He says the woman got converted voluntarily,” Satyanarayan said, adding that they were further probing the allegation.

According to police, the woman's allegation that other Hindu women were also abducted and kept at a madrasa in Muzaffarnagar has not been found true. \”Police visited the madarasa in Muzaffarnagar but no Hindu women were found there. Police are investigating it but her allegation about others being kept captive at madrasa has not been found true,” the DIG said.

Muzaffarnagar SSP HN Singh also said the police did not find any Hindu women in the madarasa.

Police have already arrested three persons — Sarawa village pradhan Nawab; Samar, the wife of main accused Sataullah; and Nishat, the woman's friend, who allegedly got the complainant in touch with the main accused.

Victim herself gave application to convert

Commenting on the Meerut gang-rape case, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Naresh Agarwal said the victim herself gave an application in court to change her religion, but now she is levelling allegations.

Agarwal said that the probe should be concluded first and the media should be more responsible in reporting the facts truly.

He added, "I think we should wait for investigations, even in Badaun case we saw how the case changed direction."

The SP leader also stated that there was a conspiracy to defame the Uttar Pradesh government, initiated by the central government and carried out by the BJP.

The Superintendent of Police (SP), Rural Area, M M Baig also sought to assure that a thorough investigation is going on in the Meerut gang rape case.

Baig said, "The FIR was filed on August 3 in which four persons were named. Out of four, three were arrested on the same day itself and sent to jail."

Congress' Shobha Oza demanded action against the guilty, "Strict action should be taken against the culprits, guilty should be severely punished."

A 20-year-old teacher of Hindi and English in the Sarawa village madrasa in Kharkhauda had claimed that she was gang- raped and forced to adopt the religion of a particular community and to change her name.

The woman reportedly managed to escape from the kidnappers on August 2. Afterwards, she contacted her family who rescued her. A complaint was also filed later with the police.

Bengaluru, May 2: Prajwal Revanna, grandson of former Prime Minister Deve Gowda, was issued fresh summons on Thursday by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) which is investigating the case of obscene videos involving the former JD(S) member, several news outlets reported.

The SIT also junked his appeal which sought seven days time to join the probe, as per these reports.

Prajwal and his father, H D Revanna, have sexual harassment and stalking cases filed against them over the matter. Gowda's son, H D Revanna, however, said that what took place '4-5 years ago' is now being turned into a legal case.

JD(S) in its core committee meeting suspended Prajwal from the party till the end of the probe. Prajwal, meanwhile, took to X to state he would join the probe in seven days time, asserting 'truth will prevail'.

Hassan, May 2: JD(S) MLC Suraj Revanna on Thursday said that the scandal and charges of sexual abuse levelled against his brother and Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna was a "conspiracy to weaken their family politically".

He claimed that he has no information about the whereabouts of Prajwal Revanna, who has been served a notice by the Special Investigation Team over the alleged sex scandal involving him.

He termed the scandal and charges of sexual abuse against his brother and his father and MLA H D Revanna, a former Minister, as a conspiracy to weaken them politically, and expressed confidence about Prajwal's win in the Lok Sabha polls.

H D Revanna is the son of JD(S) patriarch and former PM H D Deve Gowda. Prajwal, grandson of Deve Gowda, was the BJP-JD(S) alliance's candidate from Hassan Lok Sabha segment, which went to the polls on April 26.

"The (sex scandal involving Prajwal Revanna) case has been handed over for investigation (to SIT), whatever has to be proved will get proved there. How can I react to it? I don't have information about Prajwal Revanna," Suraj Revanna told reporters here.

On an FIR being registered against his father H D Revanna too, he said, "Let them put a thousand more (FIRs), what has to be proved will ultimately get proved. People of our taluk and district know what Revanna is. I don't want to react."

"Anyone can do anything out of political malice. If you take Hassan politics, there is no competitor for Revanna. There is no one who has done politics like him. To weaken him, all these conspiracies are being hatched," he added.

Scores of explicit video clips allegedly involving Prajwal Revanna had started making the rounds in Hassan recently. The state government has constituted an SIT to probe the alleged sex scandal involving the MP.

The SIT on Tuesday issued notice to Prajwal Revanna and his father Revanna, who have been booked for alleged sexual harassment at the Holenarsipura police station in Hassan district on April 28, based on a complaint by a woman who worked in their house, directing them to appear for investigation.

Prajwal who reportedly left for Germany on April 27, the very next day of the polls, on Wednesday sought seven days' time to appear before the SIT.

Regarding reports of his meeting with Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, Suraj said they were mere speculations and that he had met the former in January, and after that no such meeting had taken place.

Asked whether JD(S) leaders and workers seem to be in some sort of confusion following the developments around the alleged sex scandal, the MLC said there is no confusion. "Even yesterday there were meetings held to take stock of the situation after the polls. Hundred percent Prajwal Revanna will win."

"Let anyone charge anything, let's wait and see what comes out of the SIT probe," he added.

Victims under pressure?

Meanwhile, victims in the videos of the alleged sex scandal involving the MP, are reportedly refusing to come before the SIT which is probing the case.

Some of the victims are said to have told the SIT officials that they don't want to talk to them about the case, while a few are not reachable, sources said.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday attacked the BJP over the obscene video case in Hassan district by questioning who gave the accused Prajwal Revanna a visa to go abroad. He also hit out at Union Minister Amit Shah asking why did he gave a ticket to Hassan JD(S) MP Prajwal, who is the accused in the sex scandal case.

He alleged that former Prime Minister and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda planned the escape of his grandson and Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna abroad.

“Who gives passport and visa for travelling abroad? It’s the Centre. Can he go without the Centre’s knowledge? It was former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda who planned and sent him abroad,” the Chief Minister said.

"Prajwal pen drives case is not related to DCM DK Shivakumar. Why did Amit Shah give a ticket to the accused of a sex scandal?" he questioned.

Siddaramaiah also wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to direct the Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs to cancel the Diplomatic Passport issued to Prajwal Revanna and ensure his return to face the law.

Prajwal is accused in an alleged sex scandal which is under investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Karnataka government. He is believed to have escaped to Germany shortly after polling in the first phase of elections in the state got over on April 26, in which Prajwal was the JD(S)-BJP combine's candidate from Hassan.

The Karnataka CM said that SIT will conduct an investigation in a transparent manner in the case.

Earlier, Siddaramaiah wrote on X, "The government has decided to form a special investigation team in connection with Prajwal Revanna's obscene video case. Obscene video clips are circulating in Hassan district, where it appears that women have been sexually assaulted."
