Mangalore, Sep 16: Activists of Popular Front of India on Tuesday staged a demonstration in Mangalore to register their protest against the œcommunal policies of union government of India.
The agitators, who gathered in front of the office of deputy commissioner in the city in the evening raised slogans against Bharatiya Janata Party national president Amit shah and Uttar Pradesh BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj whose recent remarks against Madarsas triggered controversy.
Mr Maharaj, who represents communally sensitive Unnao constituency had recently alleged that Madrasas are imparting education on terrorism and that Muslim men are getting paid to convert Hindu girls.
The protesters questioned on the silence of prime minister and Muslim leaders in the saffron party including minority affairs minister Najma Heptulla over the matter.
Condemning the provocative remarks of senior BJP leaders, the protesters said that Narendra Modi led BJP government is trying to polarize the nation.
œThose who allege that Madrasa is the hub of terrorism should either get proof for their statements or should be prosecuted for the same. In fact Sakshi Maharaj himself looks like a terrorist, said one of the speakers at the protest.
