Kasargod, Oct 16: The Kerala state government has withdrawn a case pertaining to attempt to murder on former Museum Circle Mohanan Nair allegedly by a group of RSS and ABVP activists, including students of MG College.
The incident related to the case took place in 2005 during a student clash that erupted in MG College. Then, Museum circle inspector Mohanan Nair had suffered serious injuries when a group of miscreants belonging to ABVP threw country bombs at a police cordon stationed in front of the college gate.

The decision to withdraw the case was taken on the basis of a memorandum submitted by the 32 accused in the case to the government. Based on the government decision, the prosecution initiated steps to withdraw the case. It is said that there was strong pressure on Mohanan Nair not to object the government decision.
The police party led by Museum CI Mohanan Nair was a part of a huge posse of police, who had gone to the college to supress a violent student clash that broke out inside the campus. Suddenly the students stated hurling crude bombs at the police party, in which Mohanan Nair suffered serious injuries. Following this, the police had barged into the college and seized huge collection of weapons from inside.
The accused in the case submitted the memorandum before the government last year. It was following this they initiated steps to withdraw the case, which was going on before the additional sessions court here.
It is also learned that Mohanan Nair, who was the complainant in the case, was not so keen on withdrawing the case. But he had too much pressure on him as a result of which he had to finally succumb. It is also alleged that Mohanan Nair consecutively failing to appear before the court four times despite being summoned by court to hear his stance, was in protest against the government decision. Following this the court dismissed the case.
