Mangaluru, Dec 20: Teacher, education activist and social worker K M Iqbal Master, who had met with an accident on December 13, succumbed to his injuries on Saturday at a private hospital in city.
48-year-old former school teacher Iqbal Master was working as the Cluster Resources Person at Department of Public Instruction in Bantwal.
He had been admitted to the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Mangaluru after his Activa was knocked down by a speeding car near Old Nethravathi Bridge here on December 13. However in the early hours of Saturday he breathed his last.
Iqbal Master was known in Bantwal taluk for his philanthropic activities and active participation in social, religious and educational fields.
He had played a vital role in the establishment or growth of several local organisations and associations in Bantwal. He had created awareness among people and encouraged them to form self-help groups. He played a crucial role in Minority Large Scale Multipurpose Cooperative Society in Bantwal.
Forest minister B Ramanath Rai and Health Minsiter U T Khader among other elected representatives and leaders of the region have extended their deep condolence to the family of the departed.
