Over 1500 benefit from Thumbay Hospital’s camp for pregnant women

Dubai, May 3: Thumbay hospital Dubai, which organized a free check-up camp for pregnant women and Mother’s Day Out event at the hospital premises, helped more than 1500 women. Special talks by senior gynecologists, pediatricians, dieticians and other experts helped many a women understand parenting and motherhood.

Pregnant women availed free consultation and check-up as well as economical delivery packages and special discounts on caesarian cases.

Akbar Moideen Thumbay, Director Healthcare Division of Thumbay Group, said ‘we are here to offer the best possible healthcare at most affordable prices’. We have highly experienced doctors checking the patients and offering free consultations during free camps. It instills a lot of confidence and we generate loyalty amongst our patients. We have timed it to suit the needs of the patients, especially with summer catching up and Ramadan round the corner. Pregnant women need special care during Ramadan, and we educate the patients about the specific health care precautions to be taken.

As part of our corporate social responsibility and community service, we have been holding Prenatal and Antenatal Classes for Pregnant women for the last five years in our hospitals in Ajman, Sharjah and Fujairah. Other products and items on display were baby strollers, beauty products, nutritional supplements, organic mother and baby food, baby bags ‘n’ shoes, maternity clothes and accessories, baby and mother gifts, pregnancy and parenting books etc. All the exhibitors gave away free samples on the occasion.

Karnataka: BJP leader and advocate G Devaraje Gowda was arrested in connection with a sex abuse video allegedly belonging to Hassan JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna.

According to police, Devaraje Gowda was arrested at Gulihal tollgate by the Hiriyur police in this district on Friday night for leaking the video in a pen drive.

He was arrested on a tip-off received by the Hassan police, which wanted his presence for the case.

Several explicit videos involving Prajwal started making the rounds ahead of the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka, which took place on April 26.

The MP, a grandson of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, is absconding and a 'blue corner' notice has been issued against him by Interpol.

Three FIRs, including charges of rape, molestation, intimidation, blackmailing and threatening, have been registered against Prajwal.

Devaraje Gowda is accused of leaking these videos, which he has categorically rejected.

He contested in the 2023 Assembly elections against JD(S) MLA from Holenarasipura H D Revanna.

H D Revanna, father of Prajwal, is at present in jail on charges of kidnapping a woman, a mother of three.

Ahead of polls, Devaraje Gowda had warned BJP’s central leadership against backing Prajwal Revanna and brought his sex scandal to light.

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru North police have apprehended a minor in connection with alleged voyeurism incident reported in a private medical college in Mangaluru. 

DCP (Law and order) Sidharth Goyal said that the minor was produced before JJ Board as per due procedure. The incident came to light when a mobile phone was found in women's washroom in the college. 

The mobile-phone was discovered as it was ringing even when no one was in the toilet by the security guard of the college. 

Investigations revealed that the mobile phone had been strategically placed in the restroom. As a result, a case has been registered under north police station.

Further scrutiny into the matter uncovered the identity of the accused, a minor male aged 17, who had gained access to the college premises under the guise of being a patient. Following his apprehension, the accused was presented before the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Board in adherence to legal protocols.

The phone has been seized and a case has been booked under IPC section 354 (C), said the DCP.

Madikeri: A 15-year-old was bludgeoned to death and the accused fled with her severed head at Mutlu village in Somwarpet of Kodagu district on Thursday late night, hours after her SSLC examination result was declared.  

The victim has been identified as US Meena, a 10th grade student of Surlabbi High School. She had passed the SSLC examination and her school attained 100% results. 

However, she was brutally murdered by accused Prakash (32), a resident of the village. The police have launched a search operation to find the suspect, said Kodagu SP K Ramarajan 

It is said that the minor girl's engagement with the suspect was thwarted by officials from Women and Child Development department on May 9, and later officials had even convinced her parents of not to marry the minor girl.

However, the suspect barged into her house in the night and allegedly kidnapped her. Later, he took her to an area near the periphery of the forest and murdered her after which he fled with her severed head.

Victim's mother too has suffered injuries and is admitted to a hospital for treatment. The reason for the murder will be known after the probing officials have inquired the victim's mother, said the SP.
