Bengaluru, May 23: Hundreds students in the Bengaluru city protested over pre-university examination results, declared earlier this week alleging discrepancy.

For the last four days, students have been demanding that the examination board set right the discrepancies in mark-sheets.

The protesters alleged that the evaluation process was not proper, especially in Science subjects since many distinction students did not clear them. The subjects in question are Mathematics and Physics.

A student, Mathu who was among the students complaining about the results, said that she could not believe her eyes when she saw her results and that she became extremely disappointed.

Rival student organizations like Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), National Students' Union of India (NSUI) and Campus Front of India (CFI) too joined the protestors in their cause and extended their support to the demonstrating students.

CET results put off

Meanwhile, the State government has postponed the announcement of Common Entrance Test (CET) 2015 results by a week.

The results were earlier scheduled to be announced by May 26. The decision to postpone the announcement was taken by Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Kimmane Rathnakar after a meeting with PU?department officials. Based on the minister’s request, Comed-K, too, decided to reschedule announcement of results to June 8.

The principal?secretary for primary and secondary?education, Rajkumar Khatri, has been directed to conduct an inquiry into the lapses and submit a report following which action would be initiated against errant officials.?

The decision has come in the wake of massive protests by parents, students and students’ organisations, who complained of errors in II PU results. They feared that the announcement of CET results before rectifying errors in the PU results would affect their CET ranking.

The minister has also assured that the department would expedite the processes of issuing photocopies and revaluation. The department will try to complete the process within a week, he added.

So far, the department has received over 10,000 applications for photocopies alone. If needed, they would take the help of NGOs to get the work done on time, said Rathnakar.

The minister said that the whole confusion was due to errors on the part of a private agency authorised to display results on its website.

The agency, H T Media, had wrongly interpreted a subject code which resulted in a mix up in some cases, Rathnakar said.

“English language marks were tabulated as that secured by the students in French resulting in confusion and chaos,” he explained.

The Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE) has filed a complaint against H?T?Media, which operates the website www.resultsout.com. The minister also pulled up DPUE Director Sushama Godbole for not being responsive to students’ pleas.

Had the department interacted with parents and students on time, the situation would not have blown out of proportion, Rathnakar added.

Bengaluru: All India Mahila Congress President Alka Lamba on Monday accused the BJP and JD(S) of being silent over the alleged sex scandal involving Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna and said the horrifying case of violence against women has shocked the nation.

"More than 3000 videos with hundreds of women being sexually harassed, violated and even brutalised by MP Prajwal Revanna over the past few years have shaken the conscience of Kannadigas and Indians alike," she told at a press conference here.

Prajwal (33) is grandson of JD(S) supremo and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda. JD(S) joined the NDA in September last year. He was the NDA candidate in Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, which went for polls on April 26.

According to police sources, he left the country after voting was over.

The Congress government in Karnataka on Sunday constituted a Special Investigation Team to probe the alleged sex scandal.

Some explicit video clips allegedly involving Prajwal had started making the rounds in Hassan in recent days.

Lamba said the horrifying case of sexual violence against hundreds of women has shocked the nation.

"These acts of sexual brutality against hapless women has revealed the depravity of MP Prajwal Revanna, but the silence and sheer apathy of the BJP and JDS in this horrendous case is absolutely shameful," she said.

She alleged that in these videos, some recorded against the consent of the victim, women are seen pleading to be spared but the MP continues to brutalise and sexually violate them. Party 'karyakartas', panchayat members, elderly women, women who came asking for help to him and even maids have not been spared.

"The horrible fact is, that the acts of this sexual predator MP Prajwal Revanna was endorsed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he campaigned in Old Mysuru Region on April 14th, 2024," she alleged.

"....the BJP JDS are still silent which shows you their true Anti Woman DNA!! Will the BJP or JDS answer?".

Mangaluru, May 4: A tragic incident unfurled last evening in Subrahmanya of Kadaba taluk in Dakshina Kananda, where a young gentleman, who had recently entered the bonds of matrimony a mere ten days hence, met his untimely demise due to a lightning strike.

As twilight descended, a tempestuous thunderstorm, accompanied by billowing rain clouds, cast its shadow over the locale.

Somasundar was diligently engaged in the task of piling up dried nuts in the yard to shield them from the impending deluge, when fate cruelly intervened, subjecting him to the fatal force of a lightning bolt.

Despite the expeditious efforts to convey him to Kadaba Community Hospital subsequent to his sudden indisposition, he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Somasundar, who operated a car washing enterprise in proximity to Subrahmanya, is mourned by his mother, sister, and wife.

The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) on Monday responded to Karnataka’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) regarding a blue corner notice issued against JDS MP Prajwal Revanna.

In its response, Interpol said that all 196 member countries were alerted to identify and report if Prajwal Revanna is spotted at any port in their jurisdiction.

The Karnataka government issued a Blue Corner Notice on Sunday against Prajwal Revanna, who is facing allegations of sexual abuse by his staff members.

A Blue Corner Notice is issued by the international police cooperation body to collect additional information from its member countries about a person’s identity, location or activities about a crime.

The notice was issued after the 33-year-old Hassan MP reportedly flew to Germany soon after the Karnataka State Commission for Women chairperson Nagalakshmi Chowdhary wrote to the CM to order a probe into the sexual allegations against Prajwal.

Last week, the anticipatory bail application of Prajwal Revanna was also denied by Justice Santosh Gajanana Bhat’s bench of People’s Representative Court in Bengaluru.

Earlier, his MLA father and son of former Prime Minster HD Deve Gowda, HD Revanna was remanded to Karnataka SIT custody in a kidnapping-related sex scandal case.

His arrest came after the kidnapped victim was rescued from Revanna’s close assistant Rajasekhar’s farmhouse in Kalenahalli, Hunsur Taluk after the SIT conducted the rescue operation to find her, the police said.

The abduction case was filed by the son of a woman who worked at the Revannas’ house for nearly five years. He alleged that his mother was kidnapped from her home on April 29 by Satish Babanna a relative of Revanna.

The Karnataka Sex Scandal case pertains to explicit video clips allegedly involving the 33-year-old Prajwal, grandson of JD(S) patriarch and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, which went viral on social media.

Those videos began to make rounds in Hassan in recent days, following which the state government constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the sexual abuse allegations against the MP.
