Mangaluru, Jul 2: The Mangaluru City Police have launched 'Operation Muskan', an initiative of the Central government to trace missing children and unite them with their parents.
In Mangaluru and other parts of the station the campaign is being conducted from July 1 to 31 to intensify tracking of missing children, conduct raids at public places to identify street children, child labourers and rehabilitate them. The operation is a part of a national campaign aimed.
Mangaluru City Police Commissioner S Murugan said that the main objective of the campaign is to find missing children and hand over them to parents safely.
City police will take special initiative to trace missing children by launching search operations in railway station premises, bus stands, restaurants, hotels and other establishments.
Similarly, special drives will also be launched to rescue children working as child labourers based on information provided by the public.
The city police requests general public to provide information in case they get clues on child labour or when they find orphans. One may dial 0824 - 2220800/ 100 (control rooms) / 525 (women's police station) or 9480805348 (women's station sub inspector) to pass information.
