Udupi, Jul 24: An unidentified thief broke the window pane of a car belonging to a businessman and stole a bag containing Rs 7.5 lakh cash near Ambalpady Janardhana Temple in Udupi on Friday morning.
Even though the theft took place in broad daylight, the car owner and police could not find a single eyewitness to the crime.
Vasanth Kumar, the proprietor of Ganesh Auto firm at Nittur in Udupi district went to the temple in the morning as per his routine and parked the car behind the temple.
He said that he could not park the car in front of the temple due to the lack of space. When he returned after sometime, he found the car's rear door's window pane shattered and the bag full of cash missing.
A team of Udupi police rushed to the spot and conducted spot investigation. Police sources said that the car was parked at a spot which was not in CCTV's range. Hence, the thief was not captured on the cameras.
