Udupi, Aug 3: The ceremonial launching of Dar-ul-Huda Guidance Centre, Udupi was held in a grand manner at Ammanni Ramanna Memorial auditorium, here on Saturday.
Shaikh Iyadh Shukri, Muazzin-e-Haram, Masjid Nabavi, Madinah Munawwara, formally inaugurated the centre in the presence of a galaxy of religious and social leaders.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Mubarak Kapdi, founder president, National Movement for Education, said that unlike other religions Islam upholds science and technology and also encourages Muslims to gain scientific education.
Expressing grave concern over educational backwardness of Muslim community in India, he said that along with Quran and religious studies, Muslim students must gain modern education for their empowerment.
Prof Shaikh Abdul Haseeb Madani from Nazeer Hussain University, Bengaluru said that the parents must play a vital role in building the Islamic future of their children. “It is the duty of every parent to teach their children good character along with providing them education,” he said.
Prior to the inaugural ceremony Shaikh Iyadh Shukri delivered Khuthba at Jamia Masjid, Udupi, laying emphasis on peace, harmony, brotherhood and human rights.
Nakwa Yahya Saheb, president of Dar-ul-Huda Guidance Centre Trust, said that the centre will hold training camps for Haj pilgrims.
It would also distribute and collect applications for Haj pilgrimage and will also distribute scholarships for students. It will run a library where books in Arabic, Urdu, Kannada, Hindi and other languages were available. Copies of the Quran, translated in 50 languages, are available.
Sheikh Abdul Azeem Omari Madani, professor of Uloom Al-Hadith, Jamia Daru-us-Salam, Omerabad and Sheikh Arshad Basheer Omri Madani, founder of Askisalampedia.com, Sheikh Rayyan Mohammed Qurban, advocate, Saudi Court, Madinah, Indian cricket player Parvez Rasool, Hakeem Yasir and others were present among others.
