Mangaluru, Aug 27: Those Madrasas promoting biased policy with respect to girls' education in the state should be closed, opined Kannada writer Sara Aboobaker.
"Hence, we should stop sending girls to Madrasas,” she said.
“In Madrasas, girls are discouraged from actively participating not only in activities such as dancing, but even other cultural programmes. This is why Madrasas should be closed down," she added.
She also expressed concerns over the alleged “ban” on dancing for Muslim girls in most parts of the district. "Muslim girls have been banned from participating in dance performances under the guise of obscenity,” she said.
The writer went on to claim that today society should debate on what is real Islam and how to follow Islamic principles. “The Shariah law was brought into effect around 150 years after Prophet Mohammed passed away. This law is perceived and comprehended by different persons in different ways. This situation has caused the real meaning of Islam to be misunderstood," she said.
